As much as you might have seen or heard all over media, unfortunately there is no magic pill for weight loss. The good news is that there is a magic formula to weight loss and it all comes down to something very basic – The balancing act of Energy In VS Energy Out.

This isn’t rocket science but let me explain a little more…

Energy Input = the volume of calories consumed in our diet / how much food we eat.

Energy Output = the amount of energy exerted from the body / Calories burned by bodily functions and exercise.

As you’ve probably guessed, when energy balance is positive, the nutrients are stored in your body. To put it even more simply, excess Calories stored = increased body mass.

Let’s look at what happens when you burn more Calories than you eat…
The equation is negatively balanced which means, your body has to get the extra Calories from somewhere, so naturally you tap into your reserves (body fat) and the end result is – you guessed it! – a decrease in body fat! Yaaay!

So, to achieve your weight loss goals you should simply balance this formula in your favour. We have to keep in mind however, that the way in which you alter the equation can have an impact on the long term results, so we’ll go more into this in the next newsletter 🙂

For now, I want you to start becoming aware of this when dishing out your food and know that understanding the energy equation and learning how to balance it is the most important concept you can learn when you’re trying to lose weight. If this this basic formula isn’t taken into consideration with any weight loss program, then they don’t work. Simple.

I’ll leave you with this for now and this weight loss tip-
High calorie foods don’t necessarily fill you up. Just because you’re not full, doesn’t mean you haven’t eaten enough.
